Going Traditional

Anne's Perspective:
How could you not love these chairs??   Beautifully detailed with the nailheads, rings and of course, the gorg blue is fabulous.  It's traditional in style but thrown a curve by adding a contemporary chandy and transitional rug..  very cool.  I really like the carpet runner on the stairway -  mimics the circular design on the drapery fabric.  Just shows how great to take a totally traditional space and twist it with transitional touches.  LOVE IT!   (Perhaps I'd add a larger arrangement on the table for more wow factor, but it's a lovely room...!)

Dylan's Perspective:
They say details make a room, huh? Well this dining room definitely has the detail!
Starting with the 'bones' of the design first (Upholstery, curtains, rug, table, wall color, accessories): The chairs have so much detailing in themselves, I love it! Having a different and more durable fabric for the seat of the chair is a great way to have dinner parties without worrying if your guests would stain your $200/yard fabric you LOVED. Crisis averted! Put your lovely (and expensive) fabric on the back to create a look you that is just you. I love the finger pull on the back of the chair. Functional? Maybe, but a great detail. Nail heads are a great detail for any furniture, whether it's a couch, chair, chaise longue, or side table.
I just wish that the fabric on the curtains was darker to give some context from the wall to the panel. This rug is playful in its movement and sophisticated in color for a formal setting. And finally the walls: Grasscloth has come a long way from the 50's and 60's. This ain't your grandmothers wallpaper! Grey is a calming and great color for any room. Just look at all of the different color hues of grey you see.
